Protein S’mores Dessert Pizza Recipe

Pizza is obviously one of my favourite meals ever. I’m not going to lie, I think I think about it every single day! I could never say no to pizza! It’s a childhood favourite, and I’m sure it’s going to be a favourite for the rest of my life… Seriously, I’ve been having pizzas nearly every single Sunday, whether from a restaurant or baking it myself (usually baking it!). I just gotta have my pizza fix!

Now what about dessert pizza? This has been something that’s intrigued me fairly recently. After looking at many images - and salivating while browsing! - I finally had my first dessert pizza in the winter of 2019 from Cacao 70, and I got the chocolate marshmallow pizza. Okay, yum! It was tiny but so good! My favourite part was the roasted marshmallows!

As I tend to do after I’ve enjoyed something amazing from a restaurant, I’m tempted to recreate it myself. I decided to make one-up it by adding a healthy twist to it - instead of a chocolate sauce, I made a healthy pumpkin protein sauce. For toppings I’m using jam, chocolate chips, and marshmallows. What’s the crust? Well, keep on reading to find out! You’ll be surprised, but honestly it’s so good! This is the perfect quick and easy dessert pizza to make after a long day of work when you need to satisfy that sweet tooth!

Why Make Protein S’mores Dessert Pizza

This pizza is packed with protein thanks to the pizza sauce! This pizza sauce is simply pumpkin puree mixed with a chocolate protein powder! How simple is that! And don’t worry, you don’t taste the pumpkin at all, thanks to the chocolate protein powder. The pumpkin does add its own nutritional boost by providing some additional fibre. This simple pizza sauce is actually such a nutritional powerhouse. The combination of fibre and protein will keep you full and satisfied, which is a perfect hunger-crushing combo, especially before bedtime. Because no one wants to go to bed hungry!

This protein s’mores dessert pizza only has SIX ingredients! Yes, six! You can easily assemble this healthy pizza in 5 minutes, and then bake it! There’s no reason not to give yourself an epic dessert every day with this simple sweet recipe!

Ingredients for Protein S’mores Pizza

As I said, this is a six-ingredient protein pizza recipe! Check out what you’ll need:

Bingo! You’re all set! Yes, the crust is made with a tortilla! I first tried it with a pita, but I found the crust got too crispy. I think this is partly due to pita being a generally drier bread compared to the tortilla. The tortilla absorbs the sauce a bit more and needs longer to get crispy, which complements well with the sweet toppings. Also, with a tortilla you’ve got a nice “thin crust” pizza, and the toppings are nice and gooey!

How to Make Protein S’mores Pizza

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F.

  2. Begin by making your sauce. In a small bowl, combine the protein powder with the pumpkin puree. Whisk vigorously until you have a smooth consistency. It may seem difficult to whisk but trust me, you’ll get there! Just keep going!

  3. Get a baking sheet or pizza pan. Spread the protein pumpkin sauce onto the tortilla, leaving a small lip at the edge of the base.

  4. Then, spread jam over the sauce and spread just enough to leave patches of jam. This un-even spread helps with highlighting each sauce while eating.

  5. Top with marshmallows and chocolate chips and transfer the pizza to the baking sheet or pizza pan.

  6. Bake in the oven for 6 minutes, until the tortilla is slightly crispy and marshmallows have puffed up. Take the pizza out of the oven and slice into 4 pieces. Serve hot and enjoy with a cup of milk!
