This blueberry cheesecake overnight oats recipe is perfect for when you're on the go and looking for a healthy and sweet option. All you need is five minutes the night before and you'll wake up to a very creamy and delectable oatmeal bowl!

A Sweet Start to the Day!

While I love a savoury breakfast, I can definitely appreciate a sweet start to the day! If you’ve been following me long enough, I’m not the biggest fruit eater. But waking up to this treat sure makes me want to load up on the fruits!

I must also confess that prior to arriving to Canada, I actually didn’t have much of a sweet tooth at all. Savoury breakfasts were my only choice, and for sweets my go-to choice was chocolate-flavoured cakes, cookies, brownies… So you can imagine oatmeal was never on my menu until a few years back!

The Glory of Cream Cheese

On a similar note, my first time having cream cheese was in Canada. It was when I had just arrived in 2013. I went to a local grocery store, a Metro, and they were offering samples of crackers and cream cheese. I pretty much can’t say no to free food, so I gave it a try. Um, yum! My first thought was “Wow, what is this amazing goodness and why have I never had it before?” I became hooked, and cream cheese then became an integral part of my life! It sure pairs well with oats! If you’ve never tried it, what are you waiting for?

I have to say this is an ultimate go-to overnight oats recipe! Incorporating cream cheese in my overnight oats has really been a game changer for me. I love how combined with milk it makes oats even thicker! With the addition of the fruits, this really does taste like a cream cheese in oatmeal! I don't know how breakfast could get better than that to satisfy that sweet tooth and be a time saver!

Why This Recipe Works

This blueberry cheesecake overnight oats recipe has some pretty simple ingredients that will make your oats extremely creamy and sweet! If you’re craving a blueberry cheesecake, there’s no reason why you can’t enjoy it for a healthy breakfast! This simple recipe is a great overnight oats option if you want creaminess with some delicious sweetness of blueberries that I'm sure you'll enjoy!

We’ve got the whole grains from the oatmeal, which can help control your hunger until lunchtime due to the fibre. We’ve also got the sweetness and nutrition from blueberries, such as polyphenols and vitamins. Bananas have lots of potassium and have additional fibre. Finally, the milk, Greek yogurt and cream cheese are not only packed with calcium to promote bone health, but they’ll all work together to thicken up the oats to create an excellent cheesecake experience in the morning. We can’t neglect chia seeds, which also have plenty of fibre and omega-3 fatty acids, but really thicken the oats up overnight. A must-have for overnight oats!

How to Make Blueberry Cheesecake Overnight Oats

Overnight oats are so popular because they’re so easy to make! All you need to do is grab a bowl and add in your base ingredients, which are the oats, milk, chia seeds, Greek yogurt, and vanilla extract.

Now add your cream cheese.

Mix all the ingredients together.

Then, transfer your oat mixture to either a mason jar or a bowl. It almost seems mandatory to eat your overnight oats in a mason jar so I’ll go do that here! But I’ve put my overnight oats in a bowl in the past and I really enjoy that. Just depends on your mood and what you have on hand!

So transfer this mixture to where you’ll be eating the oats.

Seal the jar or if transferring to a bowl, cover the bowl with plastic wrap.

Refrigerate overnight, or at least for 4-6 hours. In the morning, take out your oats and top with the blueberries, sliced bananas and a drizzle of honey. Be sure to thaw your blueberries in water if you’re using frozen blueberries!

Even though you may not want to wake up early for school or work, if you’ve got this deliciousness waiting for you in the fridge, I guarantee you’ll actually be jumping out of bed! So no more excuses that you don't have time for a nutritious breakfast in the morning! If you're craving something sweet, forget the coffee shop donuts and have this waiting for you in the fridge tomorrow morning.
